Tattoo Machine Training

A fine line is only as steady as the machine behind it. This course teaches you to set up, tune, hold and look after rotary and pen-style machines so the tool stops being a variable and starts being an extension of your hand.

OVERVIEW

Know the machine before it touches skin

Fine line work leaves very little room for error. A machine running too hard, a grip that tires the wrist or a cartridge seated badly will show up as blowouts, shaky strokes and uneven depth.

Tattoo Machine Training works through the equipment methodically: how rotary and pen-style machines deliver the needle, how power supply settings change what happens at the tip, how to hold and support the machine through a long line, and how to clean and maintain it with barrier protection in place. For needle choice itself, the companion course is Needle & Technique Training.

STRUCTURE

How the training is structured

Four areas of the machine, entered one after another: how it works, how it is powered, how it is held and how it is cared for.

i

Machine basics

Rotary and pen-style machines compared: motor, stroke, give and how cartridges seat and extend. You learn what each part does so problems can be traced, not guessed.

ii

Power supply settings

Reading the power supply, adjusting voltage for fine line strokes, and listening to how the machine runs. Settings are tested on practice surfaces before anything else.

iii

Grip and ergonomics

Hand position, anchoring the wrist, stretching skin, managing cables and setting up posture and workspace so control holds from the first stroke to the last.

iv

Maintenance and hygiene

Barrier film, wiping down, safe cartridge disposal and routine care following manufacturer guidance. The wider picture sits in Tattoo Hygiene & Safety Training.

Does the course cover rotary and pen-style machines?

Yes. Both are covered, including how they differ in feel, weight and needle delivery, so you can work confidently with either.

Do I need my own machine before I enquire?

Ask about equipment when you enquire, and we will explain what applies to this course.

How does this fit with the other courses?

Machine training pairs naturally with needle and line work training. Newcomers may prefer the Beginner Fine Line Tattoo Course, which brings the foundations together.
